Editorial Policy
WiFi SPC maintains editorial standards for all content published on the platform, including user-submitted WiFi hotspot data, venue descriptions, and written content on the website. This page describes our content governance approach.
Content Principles
Accuracy — Information submitted to the database should reflect real, current WiFi access points. Fictional, outdated, or deliberately misleading entries are not permitted.
Transparency — Contributors are responsible for providing accurate details about the hotspots they submit. Submissions are traceable to a contributor account for accountability purposes.
Neutrality — WiFi SPC does not promote or favor specific commercial providers or venues in organic database listings. Commercial placement, where it exists, is clearly labeled as sponsored.
Hotspot Submission Review
All new WiFi hotspot submissions go through the following sequence before becoming publicly visible:
- Automated format and completeness validation
- Duplicate detection and deduplication
- Automated connection test (where applicable)
- Publication as a provisional entry
- Ongoing community rating and confirmation
- Escalation to manual moderation if community signals indicate a problem
Spam and Abuse Prevention
- Rate limiting on submissions per user account
- Detection of bulk submission patterns typical of automated bots
- Blacklist of known spam network names and fake credentials
- IP-based blocking for accounts with confirmed abuse history
- CAPTCHA verification for new account submissions
Correction and Dispute Process
Users who believe a database entry is inaccurate can flag the entry directly in the mobile app or submit a correction request via email to: support@wifispc.com. Flagged entries are reviewed by moderation staff and updated or removed within 3–5 business days.
Written Content Standards
Blog articles and static pages published on wifispc.com are reviewed by the editorial team before publication. All articles are fact-checked and aligned with our mission of providing useful, accurate information about WiFi access and connectivity. We do not publish paid editorial content without clear disclosure.
